The Golden Pheasant Complete Tail contains beautiful, natural feathers that are used in a wide variety of patterns. The tail feathers are a mottled brown colour and are long in their length. They are often used on the bodies of Nymph flies and with their versatility, they can be patterns for Steelhead Flies, Spey Flies and Trout flies as well.
Also featured on the tail is bright red Sword feathers, usually found above the tail or just in front of. These feathers have very long fibres and are shaped like sword blades (hence the name) and are very rarely used for fly patterns but can be used as wings on small Trout wet flies from the barbs. Sometimes they can be utilised as underwings on fully dressed Salmon flies.
A common fly that has a pattern from the Golden Pheasant's tail feathers is the Saywer's Pheasant Tail Nymph.
